THE MONTHLY PERSPECTIVE

The Space Between Clarity and Certainty

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”…Proverbs 3:5–6

What do you do when you know where God is leading you, but you cannot yet see how He will get you there?

Perhaps that question has been sitting quietly in your heart.

You know the direction you are meant to take. You have gained the conviction, embraced the vision, and settled the decision. Yet every time you think about the journey ahead, one question rises above all others:

How?

How will the opportunity come?

How will the resources be provided?

How will the right doors open?

How will everything fall into place?

If you have ever found yourself asking these questions, you are not alone.

There is a space many of us encounter but rarely acknowledge. It is the space between clarity and certainty. It is the place where you know where you are going, yet you cannot fully see the road that will take you there. It is where purpose meets process, vision meets vulnerability, and faith is stretched beyond what the eyes can see.

It is also where many people quietly lose hope.

Not because they no longer believe in the destination, but because they cannot understand the route.

We live in a world that celebrates visible progress. Promotions are announced. Degrees are awarded. Businesses are launched. New opportunities are celebrated. Milestones are applauded. Yet what often goes unnoticed are the countless moments of uncertainty, perseverance, disappointment, and quiet obedience that precede those celebrations.

Comparison has a subtle way of convincing us that everyone else is moving while we remain still.

But stillness and stagnation are not the same.

Sometimes, what appears to be a pause is actually preparation.

Sometimes, the greatest progress is taking place where no one else can see it.

Life has taught me that one of the greatest temptations in seasons of waiting is to become more focused on the unanswered “how” than on the certainty of the “where.” We become so consumed with understanding the route that we begin to question the destination itself.

Yet God, in His wisdom, does not always reveal the entire journey before asking us to begin.

If He did, faith would become unnecessary.

Instead, He often gives us enough light for the next step while inviting us to trust Him with the rest.

That does not make waiting easy.

There are days when uncertainty feels heavy. Days when you wonder whether you have misunderstood the vision or overestimated your ability. Days when the silence makes you question whether anything is happening at all.

Yet I have discovered that God’s silence is never the same as His absence.

Some of His greatest works begin quietly.

A renewed strength to keep going.

An unexpected conversation.

A timely opportunity.

A door that remains open when you expected it to close.

A hope that refuses to die.

Looking back, I have realised that hope is rarely restored through one dramatic moment. More often, it is rekindled through quiet mercies. Small reminders that God is still writing the story, even when we cannot yet read the next chapter.

Romans 15:13 describes Him as “the God of hope.” I find those words deeply comforting. Before God changes our circumstances, He often renews our perspective. Before He reveals the outcome, He strengthens our confidence in His character. Hope is not the denial of uncertainty. It is the decision to trust the faithfulness of God in the midst of it.

This is the posture I choose to carry into August.

Not because I have every answer.

Not because I can already see the entire road ahead.

But because I know the One who does.

Perhaps that is the invitation this month extends to each of us.

To trust without having every detail.

To prepare without seeing every opportunity.

To keep moving without allowing uncertainty to become fear.

To believe that the God who made the destination clear is more than able to order the steps that lead us there.

If you find yourself in the space between clarity and certainty, let this encourage your heart.

Do not allow an unseen path to make you doubt a God who has never lost His way.

The journey may not yet make sense.

The timing may not yet align with your expectations.

The answers may not have arrived.

But God is no less faithful because you cannot yet see what He is doing.

One day, what now feels like a collection of unanswered questions will become a testimony of His perfect timing.

Until then, keep trusting.

Keep preparing.

Keep believing.

And keep taking the next step.

Because sometimes, the greatest act of faith is not seeing the whole journey.

It is trusting the One who already has.
